The name Ugwumba Uche Nwosu is one of the most popular names in the state, despite the diverse reasons to many it might have.
Aside from being Okorocha’s son-in-law, the former Chief of Staff to former Govenror Rochas Okorocha proved to be a force to reckon with, when he won the 2019 General Elections, being the authentic candidate of the winning APC, as well as the candidate of AA, which came a very close third, after Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha’s PDP that came Second, according to the counting of the Supreme Court.
By an earlier ruling of the same Supreme Court, it is clear, that Uche Nwosu won the election, not Senator Hope Uzodinma, who is today trying to explain to us how he became APC candidate, when the Surpreme Court had already declared Uche Nwosu as the authentic candidate of the party.
Recently, the former Govenror and Senator representing Orlu Zone, Senator Rochas Okorocha at a function made reference to Uche Nwosu, which was adjudged as a 2023 early campaign for Uche Nwosu.
Okorocha, through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Sam Onwuemeodo, had come out to deny the claims of early campaign for Uche Nwosu. But many people are still not convinced that Okorocha may not be interested in another attempt to make Uche Nwosu Govenror of Imo State.
With the direction of the Hope Uzodinma government, Okorocha’s abysmal performance have recently been excused in most parts, and many have started believing that Uche Nwosu may even have been a better choice over Uzodinma, had the Supreme Court not disqualified him for dual candidacy.
A popular MC in the state MC Idahosa Mr. Ugochukwu Onyenali, in a post on his Facebook handle, still believes Uche Nwosu is very salable, and may one day occupy the seat of Govenrment of the state.
He is not alone in that regard, as Uche Nwosu has suddenly of late, become very visible in the media, associated with worthy causes across the state such as his Free Medical outreach targeted at over 1,000 children in Orlu Zone.
Political watchers begin to ponder over Uche Nwosu’s next political adventure. Will he try to reclaim a victory he almost had but lost, or will he look at other areas where he can serve from?
With his father-in-law Rochas Okorocha, seriously eyeing the APC Presidential ticket, while Uche Nwosu replace him in the Senate, hence his Orlu wide philanthropic outreach.
Many people in Imo State are very interested to know where Uche Nwosu is going, but the Nkwerre born politician and strategist is keeping the cards very close to his chest.
