I represent ALL the People of Mbaike not just the PDP – Nwawuba

The member representing Mbaitoli and Ikeduru in the Nigerian House of Representatives Rt Hon Henry Nwawuba, has stated that his responsibility in the National Assembly, is to the people of Mbaitoli and Ikeduru, who sent him to represent their interests.

Nwawuba stated this during a phone interaction with MaaziTV correspondent while reacting to a question by our correspondent who wanted to know why he shared palliatives and Christmas gifts across party lines, during the 2020 Christmas Celebration.

Responding, Nwawuba said, “PDP is my party. It is the platform that gave me the opportunity to meet the people and ask for their votes. I will always remain committed and loyal to the party, but in the National Assembly, my first responsibility lies with the enterprising people of Mbaitoli and Ikeduru, irrespective of their political affiliation.”

Nwawuba pointed out that during his first tenure, Mbaike people across party lines voted him into office.

“It wasn’t just my party members that voted for me. I was well accepted by APC members, APGA members, LABOUR party members, UPP, and indeed all the various political parties who believe in me, and gave me their votes. In 2019, they reaffirmed the confidence they have in me and overwhelmingly returned me to the House to ensure that Mbaike is not left behind as far as representation at the National level is concerned.”

Nwawuba had distributed both food and non food items in December including bags of rice, beans, grain, vegetable oil, Palm oil and cartons of noodles to every autonomous community of Mbaike. He also shared hundreds of mattresses, pillows and blankets to the entire 63 autonomous communities of Mbaike, to help cussion the hardship exacerbated by the COVID-19 outbreak.

Visibly present at the collection center, which was the palace of Eze Ohiri, the Chairman of Imo Traditional Rulers, the President Generals and women and youth leaders of all the autonomous communities as well as representatives from various political parties, who had come to witness the distribution of the palliatives.

Nwawuba assured, that despite being in the PDP, which was in the opposition in Nigeria, he ensured that Mbaike was not left out in government programs, employments or projects he can get from the National Assembly. He pointed out that he lobbied favourably with lawmakers who were in the ruling party, ensuring that he gave his people just as much as those in the ruling party gave.

Nwawuba further made available to MaaziTV, some projects and programs he had embarked on and accomplished for the people of Mbaike since he was elected into office, despite being from an opposition party, assuring Mbaike people to expect much more from him.
