…Party fixes Sept 4 for LG congress
…Uzodimma yet to address ward congress issues
...Leaders scared of possible hijack.
Another confusion looms in Imo State chapter of the APC as the national leadership of the party has fixed September 4th for the party’s LGA Congresses.
The Imo state chapter of the APC had on July 31 conducted its Ward Congresses which hitherto generated lots of controversies by the leaders who claimed that they were not allowed to make contributions, an act which the Government of the day promised to look into.
However, while the Government is yet to make clarifications on to calm the nerves of the leaders who threatened to live the party for the Governor and the Interim management committee Chairmen whose lists of the candidates were allegedly the ones collected by the Government, the leadership of the party has fixed September 4th for the Local Government Congresses.
Speaking with Weekend Lead, one of the chieftains of the party in Ezinihitte Mbaise would not want his name in print expressed anger, querying the rationale behind why the leadership of the party in Imo has not treated the issues surrounding the party’s ward congress while the national leadership of the party has set aside, next month for the LGA Congresses.
The party’s Chieftain while expressing fear that the LGA’s election may be hijacked again appealed with the Governor to address the issues of the Ward election with immediate effect so as to give sense of belonging to the aggrieved leaders .
Majority of the leaders of the APC at various Local Governments have not stopped to condemn the outcome of the APC ward Congresses which they accused the IMC chairmen of hijacking.
Those who spoke to this paper on the outcome of the said election threatened not to take part in the elections if the Governor does not address issues emanating from the said election.
While the Governor is yet to address the said issues, the national Secretary of the APC caretaker Committee, John Akpanudoedehe in a release has fixed September 4 for the party’s LGA Congresses.
