Ohakim reconciles with Araraume

In line with the political adage that states in ‘politics’, no permenant enemies except permenant interest appears to have played out between one of the former Governors of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim and Senator Ifeanyi Araraume.

Ohakim who is known for his political loggerheads with Senator Araraume was last Saturday February 6, captured dancing publicly amongst others in Araraume’s house during his daughter’s traditional marriage.

Ohakim who was conspiciously present at the said event made it clear during his speech that Araraume was his friend who according to him, both have done a lot in common politically. Ohakim who used the forum to pray to God to bless the newly married couple, advised them to make tolerance their watchdog in the marriage.

In his speech, the two-time Senator Araraume commended Ohakim for putting up an appearance in his house for his daughter’s traditional marriage despite his busy schedules.

“I am happy you are here today my brother Ikedi, when I called you for today’s event, you were in Calabar and you assured me that you will be here today. Thank you.”

It would be recalled that the duo’s political problems started in 2007 when Araraume made his first outing in the governorship race of Imo State. When Araraume won the governorship ticket of the party in 2007 and was not allowed to fly the party’s flag by the powers that be, Ikedi Ohakim reaped the benefits of the said Araraume’s struggle by becoming the Governor of Imo State under the platform of the defunct PPA.

It would be recalled that Ohakim’s first outing in politics as gathered by this paper was made possible by Araraume who recommended him to be made Commissioner in the Evans Enwerem short lived administration.
