Breaking News: Supreme Court sacks Araraume, upholds Frank Ibezim as Okigwe APC Senate Candidate

The Supreme Court has today, ruled against the candidacy of Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, and upheld Sir Frank Ibezim as the authentic candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC, in the Okigwe Senate Bye-election.

There have been legal tussle, over who the authentic candidate of the APC in the Okigwe Senate Bye-election was, with Araraume who was backed by the former Govenror of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha on one side, against Sir Frank Ibezim, who was backed by Senator Hope Uzodinma and Hon Emeka Nwajiuba.

Araraume had initially sacked Ibezim through a High Court ruling, but the ruling was upturned by the Appeal Court, reinstating Ibezim.

The Supreme Court, by it’s ruling have affirmed the judgement of the Appeal Court.

There is however the case disqualifying Ibezim from holding public office, which may still stop him from going to the Senate.

The Peoples Democratic Party PDP, and the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA, are also arguing that APC did not have a candidate in the Bye-election, as both Araraume and Ibezim were barred from the election by court rulings.
