As the 2023 General Elections draws closer, many players have started indicating their interests, in various political positions they may be vying for.

One of those rumoured to be eyeing the Orlu Senate seat, which is currently occupied by former govenror Rochas Okorocha, is Barr. Nnamdi Anyaehie, the former PDP State Chairman and current Chief of Staff to Senator Hope Uzodinma.

There are strong indications, that Anyaehie might dump his appointment in Uzodinma’s cabinet, for an elective position in 2023, and his eyes seems set on the Orlu Senate seat.

Granted that Senator Rochas Okorocha, has already indicated his interest, in contesting for the nation’s number one position, it can’t still be put past Okorocha, to try and secure the Orlu Senate seat for himself, should he lose his Presidential ambition.

Recall that in 2015, Okorocha, then Govenror of Imo State, contested the APC Presidential primaries against President Muhammadu Buhari, at the same time, handed the APC Governorship ticket to his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu.

Political analysts are not putting this game play past Okorocha, who would not want to lose out totally, as he did in 2015 as well as 2019.

In 2019, he went for the Senate, while dangling his son-in-law Uche Nwosu, for the Govenroship.

Many political watchers believe it was a gamble, as Okorocha does not want to lose out politically, and to remain relevant, he needs a political office to occupy.

Uche Nwosu lost the Govenroship seat, but Okorocha won the Senate seat and remained in power.

While some political watchers believe Uche Nwosu may try for the Govenroship seat again, others believe Okorocha may once again use him to secure the Orlu Senate ticket, while he makes a run for Aso Rock.

The question in many minds now becomes, can Nnamdi Anyaehie dislodge whatever move Okorocha decides to make concerning the Orlu Senate seat?

Despite being the Chairman of a major political party in the state, Anyaehie is still looked at by many people in the state, as a political amateur compared to Rochas Okorocha.

Political watchers believe, that if Anyaehie gets into the ring, he may get Uzodinma’s support over others, but whether Uzodinma’s support for him, can help him get the ticket remains another matter.

Anyaehie, through his father, is a household name in his native Nkwerre. But Uche Nwosu, who is also from Nkwerre, has been gaining a lot of grounds, and many believe that should both of them face off for the ticket, Uche Nwosu may defeat Anyaehie.

So in the event that Okorocha uses Uche Nwosu to secure the ticket, many political watchers doubt if Anyaehie would be able to dislodge Rochas Okorocha and his son-in-law, despite having the support of Hope Uzodinma.
