Two leading political parties in Mbaitoli state constituency, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, have ceded the 2023 House of Assembly tickets to Mbieri bloc also known as Mbaitoli East.
While the PDP on Tuesday, returned the incumbent Rt Hon Okey Onyekanma as its House of Assembly candidate for Mbaitoli state constituency
for 2023, APGA equally picked Chimaraoke Oparaugo from the same Mbieri bloc (Mbaitoli East) for 2023.
The choice of Mbieri candidates for Mbaitoli state assembly seat, is said to be in keeping with the zoning arrangement in Mbaitoli which has reserved the 2023 House of Assembly seat for Mbieri bloc or Mbaitoli East.
The zoning arrangement in Mbaitoli recognises and shares elective positions between Mbaitoli North, Mbaitoli South and Mbaitoli East (Mbieri bloc) for the purpose of achieving political harmony and stability in Mbaitoli.
It was gathered that Mbaitoli PDP and APGA had told their aspirants who are not from Mbieri or Mbaitoli East point blank, to step down for Mbieri aspirants; the move was said to have led to only candidates from Mbieri or Mbaitoli East to emerge.
Political leaders in APC Mbaitoli have however, spoken out against the aspiration of a particular aspirant for Mbaitoli state assembly seat who is not from Mbieri bloc or Mbaitoli East, describing the move as capable of causing disaffection in Mbaitoli APC.
it is expected that Mbaitoli APC would follow PDP and APGA in choosing its candidate from Mbieri/Mbaitoli East tomorrow.
