By Collins Ughalaa KSC
The Director General of Ugosly Campaign Organisation, Chief Chibututu Isiguzo, has described the frontline senatorial aspirant for Owerri Zone, Prince Ugochukwu Hilary Nwachukwu, fondly called Ugosly, as the most beautiful bride in the contest for the 2023 Owerri Zone Senate.
He made this known while speaking with journalists in Owerri on Sunday, saying that a good product sells itself.
He assured that once elected Ugosly will present bills for the upgrading of the Federal Medical Center (FMC), Owerri, to a Teaching Hospital, and Alvan Ikeokwu Federal College of Education to Alvan Ikeokwu Federal University of Education, Owerri.
While thanking the leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the nine local government areas in Owerri Zone for the wonderful reception accorded the campaign team and for partnering the aspirant, the Director General said that the people should rest assured that Ugosly will fulfill his campaign promises.
He said that as a grassroots person, Ugosly understands the needs of the people and feels their pain, saying that he will waste no time providing the legislative framework to address those challenges once elected into the Senate.
He noted that Ugosly understands the issues of poverty, unemployment, insecurity, ecological challenges, poor representation, healthcare challenges, education, especially the girl-child education, among his people and the communities, reiterating that Ugosly will role up his sleeves and get to work once elected.
He said once the issue of poverty is methodically addressed, the income levels of families will appreciate drastically, adding that apart from lobbying to ensure that he secures job opportunities in government offices for his people, he will present bills for the establishment of industries in Owerri Zone that will gainfully employ the people..
The DG also disclosed that having traversed the nine LGAs Ugosly has seen first hand the poor state of infrastructure in the area, especially road infrastructure. He said Ugosly will mobilize for the construction of roads in the communities, stressing that without good roads not so much can be achieved.
While thanking Governor Hope Uzodimma for the wonderful work he is doing, especially on road construction in Owerri Zone, the DG said it was painful to see that roads in Ngor-Okpala, Ikeduru, Owerri West, Mbaitoli, and others, are dilapidated, as if there had been no representation of the people over the years.
“As we moved on our campaign tours, we were well received by the people. The love and support for Ugosly was massive. The people assured us of their support and we were glad. Ugosly assured the people that among the things he will pursue vigorously are family related issues, education, job creation, poverty eradication, insecurity and youth restiveness, ecological challenges threatening communities like Ogbor Ihitteafoukwu Autonomous Community, Ekwerazu, Ihitte-Ubi in Ahiazu Mbaise LGA and other communities in Owerri Zone. We saw the condition of infrastructure, especially poor condition of roads, in the Zone. All this will be fixed”, said the DG.
“There is a nexus between poverty, unemployment and insecurity, and if the issues of unemployment and poverty are addressed, insecurity will also be addressed.
“We need to improve on our families. One of the best ways to achieve this is to address the issue of income levels and poverty in families. The rate of poverty in the families is alarming and this is as a result of negligence by successive governments. Ugosly will not allow this to continue. This is why he will support family friendly initiatives.
“So many families are in disarray today. If our families are in disarray the entire society will be in disarray. That is why, as we address issues of unemployment, we will also address family issues such as right of women, education, healthcare and welfare. As part of efforts to addres the healthcare problem, Ugosly will move for the upgrading of the Federal Medical Centre, (FMC), Owerri, to a Teaching Hospital. He will also move for the upgrading of the Alvan Ikeokwu Federal College of Education to a federal university”.
The DG said that Owerri Zone needs a humble and accessible person who will cooperate with the Governor for the betterment of the Zone, and not someone who will see himself as another governor and deprive the people the opportunity they need for development. He said having been a Senator for eight years, the Governor will be of immense help.
